“When someone breaks your kid’s heart, your own heart rises up, gets fierce.” –from the tv show, Bones
There are days when the hits just keep on coming. When it seems that nobody is happy, but despite your best efforts, it seems that what is really setting them off is beyond your ability to help.
There are days when it seems you are all alone in this. All the technology, the advanced abilities to keep in touch with others, doesn’t fill the need for that personal hug or the shared meal.
There are days when it seems that evil keeps on winning and the righteous continue in squalor.
There are days when it seems that God’s “sovereignty” is just another euphemism for Him not caring.
But the truth is very different.
We are God’s children. And the armies of Heaven stand at the ready–all in defense of you.
When you are slighted, or injured, or let down, He rises up.
When you are sad, or lonely, or afraid, He rises up.
And when the attacks come, He stands at attention, like a great General looking over the whole scope of the war at hand. Your battle does not go unnoticed. Your struggle is not anonymous.
His armies are there. His armies are fighting.
“So he answered, ‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, and said, ‘Lord, I pray You open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” –II Kings 6:16-17
He does not stand quiet. He rises up. He knows when a battle is a rough-and-tumble wrestling match that will train you. And He knows when the battle requires a Heavenly directive.
What is more–we cannot know the amount of war going on around us. Because our God rises up. He does not let us stumble alone. He does not allow us to cry alone. And He does not forget the sins done against us.
He rises up.
