This clip is on repeat, both in my brain and on my computer. I cannot get enough of the abandon, the trust, and the support shown in these 12 seconds of dance. From lifting her off the floor, to her “reckless” abandon, throwing every ounce of muscle and energy she has, leaping off the floor–flying through the air–and trusting that her partner will catch her…trusting he will be there…no hesitation, no fear, not a speck of doubt–and unabashed determination to throw all her weight into the launch. And then collapsing in his arms, like there was never any doubt he would catch her.
Oh how I wish…how I wish this to be the picture of my faith in Jesus.
Amen, and amen.
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” –Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV)
Watch the video again, hear those cheers at the end when he catches her? Those are the Hebrews 12 witnesses. Those could be my witnesses, ecstatic at the faith-filled abandon. They could be your witnesses.
Let’s take a note from the dance community–and let it go. Launch…
