Give it to me straight…

I am a cream and sugar type of girl.
Coffee–cream and sugar.
Tea–cream and sugar.
Pie–well, it comes with sugar, and it is great with some whipped cream.
If dairy and sugar were banished, I would be lost.

But tonight…
tonight, I took my tea black.
Straight up,
no masking agents.
Just tea. (or weeds in water, if you remember this post)

Sometimes we just need things straight.
Don’t mess around.
Leave bush beating for the hide-and-seekers.
No himming, or hawing.
No caveats or qualifiers.

Just give it to me straight!

Okay,
here it is.
The God-honest truth
from none other than the God of all truth.
Prepare yourself for the hard reality of scripture:

“He delivered me because He delighted in me.” –2 Samuel 22:20, NKJV

“He shall pray to God, and He shall delight in him, he shall see His face with joy, for He restores to man His righteousness.” –Job 33:26, NKJV

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, for He delights in his way. Though he fall, shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.” –Psalm 37:23-24, NKJV

“The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy.” –Psalm 147:11, NKJV

This is the scripture truth. God delights in you. Relish in that a moment. Take in the beauty that you do not have to do more, be more, change more. The God who called you already delights in you.

Smile in that for a while. Let it sink in. Let it wash over. And remember the character of the One who delights in you:

“Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast our sins into the depths of the sea.” –Micah 7:18-19, NKJV

Book mark this. Remember it. Write these down and set the in the tenderest places of your heart.

The God of the universe delights in you.
He delights…in YOU.
