Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die.” –verse 8
Look around. Who do you notice in your normal day-to-day? Do you rush by the checker in the grocery line? Did you say an actual hello to the barista at the coffee shop this morning? (Do you remember the barista at the coffee shop this morning?)
God gives us inklings, pushes, and nudges. We will not notice every bit of everything going on around us–talk about overstimulation! But He does want us to notice things.
While driving across the state with a friend of mine, we stopped at a fast-food joint to grab a bite. After we each ordered and were waiting for our food, he disappeared. I blinked and he was gone. He didn’t say anything, just left. So I grabbed my food and was heading to a table when he re-entered the restaurant and got back in line to order…again? I asked, he declined to answer. I pressed, he didn’t say anything. Later in the car he confessed. When we pulled into the parking lot, he noticed a couple of men begging at the intersection (I was completely oblivious to them.) When he ordered his food, he felt God telling him to order extra and give it to the men. So he did. So. He. Did. No biggie. He wasn’t even going to tell me.
I call it a drive-by fooding. The men to whom I was completely oblivious were front and center in my friend’s mind–and in God’s too. We don’t have to notice everything–but when we notice something and He calls us to follow, do it. You never know who you will be blessing.
