Psalm 66: Mercy looks different than I think…
“For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; You laid affliction on our backs. You have caused men to ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water; But You brought us out to rich fulfillment.” –verses 10-12
“Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me!” -verse 20
Mercy looks different than I think. I forget His mercy comes, not only in deliverance from something but also sometimes by the removal of something. I forget the Almighty God is not limited to my human understanding of mercy. Is it merciful to allow, even give, affliction so that one may be refined? Is it merciful for you to train your children, which they would call affliction, that they may know how to be responsible?
I forget that mercy looks different than I think. Praise God for His abundant mercy.
