“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth.” –verse 1
“Who in this room hasn’t sinned today? Good, none of you raised your hand.” My pastor–laying it out blunt, went on to ask how God should deal with sin. “Death,” comes a quiet response from the back of the room. In the hush that followed, the gravity of our sin, and the just response to it lay bare before the room of followers now lost in their own reflections.
The glory goes to God, not out of false humility, but because He is the only reason we have not been struck down in our sin. His mercy, His patience, and His triumphant love preserve our lives– — preserve our every breath.
Anything that comes from it is only because of Him. Only because of Him.
“But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord…” –Philippians 3:7-8, NKJV
