In advertising, the general notion is to repeat any key point, phone number, or phrase three times.  At two times, the brain will take note that something is important, but it is the third time where the brain is more likely to actually remember the thing it has previously determined to be important.

In walks Psalm 118. My understanding of the Hebrew language is that repetitions indicate emphases. The repetitive patterns in this psalm could be words to live by in themselves:

“His mercy endures forever.” –verse 1
“His mercy endures forever.” –verse 2
“His mercy endures forever.” –verse 3
“His mercy endures forever.” –verse 29

It is better to trust in the Lord.” –verse 8
“It is better to trust in the Lord.” –verse 9

“The nations surround me.” –verse 10
“They surround me.” –verse 11
“Yes, they surround me.” –verse 11

“But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.” –verse 10

“But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.” –verse 11

“For in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.” –verse 12

“The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.” –verse 15
“The right hand of the Lord is exalted.” –verse 16
“The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.” –verse 16

“You are my God.” –verse 28
“You are my God.” –verse 28

“I will praise the Lord.” –verse 19
“I will praise You.” –verse 21
“I will praise You.” –verse 28
“I will exalt You.” –verse 28

Whatever the Spirit repeats to you today, keep your ear tuned, for it may be the very words of salvation to your troubled soul.
