Psalm 99: Releasing the burden of misplaced expectation
“Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool—He is holy…Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.” –verses 5, 9
The Lord is holy. Though we are commanded to be the same, man is not holy, nor can we ever be apart from God. Even then, His holiness cleanses and covers us. For He is good and His love endures forever.
Are you putting that expectation on man? I struggle at times, placing this expectation of holiness on the people in my life, including myself. I am my own worst critic, and sadly, in the height of self-criticism, it overflows onto those around me.
Remember that He alone is holy frees ourselves and those around us to humbly seek Him and graciously encounter those in our world.
He alone is holy. Release the shackles of improperly placed expectation.
