This Psalm can be difficult. It identifies particular ways in which the man who fears the Lord will be blessed. But talk with a person without those things despite them being their heart’s desire and it may feel the blessing of God is being withheld.
Though the psalmist identifies specifics, we can agree that God’s hand is broad in His blessing of His children. He is not a vending machine where we get to choose every blessing according to our individual desire. But we can rest assured in the wisdom of Romans:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” –Romans 8:28, NKJV
He is working. He is blessing. And He loves you deeply. Look to Him in gratitude for His grace and mercy and you will see a far greater landscape than any psalmist can paint in mere words.
