Psalm 131: The calm and quiet soul…
“Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty.
Neither do I concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too profound for me.
Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord
From this time forth and forever.” –verses 1-3
I so enjoy verses that give a vision of how life could be and then goes on to tell me how to get there. How can I have a heart that is not lofty? By having a calm and quiet soul. The calm and quiet soul brings forth humility and an understanding of what we do not need to understand. The calm and quiet soul brings hope.
The calm and quiet soul brings peace.
What do you need to have calmed and quieted in your soul? For you, too, may have peace.
