- Numbers 23:1-24:25
Balak desired to curse the people of God. He went to great lengths to bring a known prophet who would look over the people Israel and denounce them. Balak repeatedly sent for Balaam, and Balaam came.
But the words of the Lord would not be overcome by the desire of Balak. When Balaam opened his mouth to speak that which God commanded, Balak must have been surprised.
“How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced?” –Numbers 23:8, NKJV
God’s people were not to be cursed by Balak or anyone else. God would have none of it. For what God has called good, let no man try to call anything different.
What in your life might God be calling good and you’re not quite sure you agree? Who might you be seeking to curse who God may be saying to love?
Reflect on the results of Balak’s attempted cursing. What is God asking you to do for today?
