• Deuteronomy 4:44-7:26

“Therefore you shall be careful to do as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.” –Deuteronomy 5:32-33, NKJV

A former pastor of mine would say the Christian life is just better. Peace, forgiveness, believing it will all work out for good is a powerful perspective to have. Science recommends meditation for stress release and keeping a positive outlook shows positive physiological responses. That pastor would say that even if the eternal reward weren’t an issue, the Christian life just means a better quality of life.

I forget to remember the benefits of following God’s ways in the here and now. The eternal purpose and destination often power the motivation to follow Him. But when I pause enough to reflect, I see that my quality of life here and now remains far better than it would have been had I been left to my own wisdom and approaches.

What peace do you have today as a result of following after righteousness? Spend time today remembering the here and now blessings.
