Chronological Bible: March 10, His promise, His time…
- Joshua 20:1-22:34
God’s promises are big. He promises much to the house of Israel. And despite disobedience, desert detours, and a change of administration, His promises endure. Did He know of of the circuitous route ahead? Faith says that God knows all that will happen. Did you know that science agrees?
Hugh Ross, an astrophysicist, describes the dimensions required for the earth to exist in his book “Beyond the Cosmos…” You and I know four dimensions: height, width, length, and time. Though astrophysicists disagree on the exact number of dimensions required for this world to exist, they agree that the minimum is eleven. ELEVEN! One of those eleven is a second dimension of time that is separate and independent from the time dimension you and I understand. Ross describes it as a shadowing dimension, a dimension in which the activities of that dimension cast a shadow on the other dimensions. So how can God know what can happen with His free-will-using creatures before it happens? Science supports faith in saying there are more time dimensions than you and I commonly understand.
And yet, He accomplishes His promises:
“So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.” –Joshua 21:43-45, NKJV
Despite our efforts to mess things up, His promises endure. Be encouraged: your God is bigger than you. Not a single one of His appointed promises will fall by the wayside. Keep on keeping on. He will work it out to fulfill that which He has promised.
