- Judges 3:7-6:40
I am a list maker, a planner. I find peace in planning ahead and simplicity in pro/cons lists. This passage in Judges feeds that comparative nature, showing me the choices ahead.
When the scripture reads: “And Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord,” the verses that follow generally include mayhem and death. But oh, what follows when the people follow Him:
“When leaders lead in Israel, When the people willingly offer themselves, Bless the Lord!” –Judges 5:2, NKJV
The song of Deborah and Barak start with important context: leaders lead and people offer themselves willingly. When these take place, oh the joy that follows in the subsequent verses. God will rule one way or another. Choosing evil results in mayhem. Willing followers experience the glory of God.
Simplicity in choice. Simplicity in action. And He whispers to me: “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.” (Joshua 24:15, NKJV).
