Chronological Bible: March 31, Deliverance two ways…
- Psalm 54
- 1 Samuel 26:1-30:31
Sometimes the deliverance we seek is at our own hands. David sought God’s deliverance in Psalm 54. He asked for God’s hand to stay his enemies. And in 1 Samuel 26, God does that, but in an unexpected way. God delivered David by delivering David’s enemy.
“The Lord forbid that I should stretch out my hand against theLord’s anointed.” –I Samuel 26:11, NKJV
In times of persecution, we can get lost in the injustice. We can settle in the drama and the seemingly silly and lose focus of the greater issue. David’s enemy was God’s anointed. And though Saul’s anger against David could not be justified, David kept above the fray and remembered the anointing of God. And so he went to the One who did the anointing to request the deliverance. God stayed David’s hand in wisdom.
He may be doing the same for you.
