- 1 Samuel 31:1-13
- 2 Samuel 1:1-27
- Psalm 18
The Lord called David to the throne in a time when God also had an anointing on Saul. Saul would become bitterly angry with David and pursue his life. And yet David sought the Lord. Though called to the throne and Saul was clearly out of his mind, David honored the Lord’s anointing. In a time when the call of God seems to contradict what God does in the current circumstance, we must remember to rely on His sovereignty. We must remember His almighty hand. And we must do right by Him.
“The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands, He has recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God. For all His judgments were before me, and I did not put away His statutes from me. I was also blameless before Him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. Therefore the Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.” –Psalm 18:20-24, NKJV
The God who called you will make the circumstance come to pass. The Lord who reigns clears the way, despite what you may see before you. Trust that His call may not be instantaneous. Believe that His will for you is good. Watch and see what the Lord will do to bring about that to which He has called you.
