Chronological Bible: April 4, Living in the long-term…
- 1 Chronicles 9:35-44
- 1 Chronicles 10:1-11:47
You have a calling. As a child of God, you were created with a purpose in this world. You may feel unequipped or under educated, but know this: the God of the universe created you with a purpose right now.
“…they were very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.” –1 Chronicles 9:13, NKJV
You are able. And where you are not able, He is. He wouldn’t have placed you here in this time, in this place, if His purpose did not include you being present in this time and place. There is no happenstance in the household of God. Review 1 Chronicles 9: 26 and the verses that follow it. Each held a specific assignment, a responsibility for the Lord. Their lives included the service of God.
And David became king. Yet in his crowning, we learn something important of our calling. The position itself does not make the man. In 1 Chronicles 10:13-14, we learn more details about Saul’s downfall. In a summary statement of his kingship, Saul sought guidance from a medium and did not inquire of the Lord.
As you embark on your appointed service, remember Saul. Remember that some may sum up your life in two short statements. Live in a way today that contributes to how God might want your life to be summed.
