- 1 Kings 11:9-43
- 2 Chronicles 1:1-2:18
- 2 Chronicles 3:1-4:22
Solomon’s great wisdom did not prevent him from making some poor choices. God giving Solomon free will to make those choices did not prevent the promises He made to David from being fulfilled. Nor did the poor decisions of Solomon go without accountability. At the same time, God’s will for the people Israel was not destroyed by Solomon’s decisions.
A beautiful harmony exists in knowing the omniscience of God cannot be obliterated by the free will choices of man. Could the kingdom have remained larger than one tribe if Solomon made different choices? According to the rationale given by God for the discipline, it seems so. It is not that our actions do not have impact. It is that the impact will never supersede the will of God.
