- 2 Chronicles 12:1-13:22
- 2 Chronicles 14:1-16:14
“And when Judah looked, behold, the battle was in front of and behind them. And they cried to the Lord, and the priests blew the trumpets. Then the men of Judah raised the battle shout. And when the men of Judah shouted, God defeated Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. The men of Israel fled before Judah, and God gave them into their hand…Thus the men of Israel were subdued at that time, and the men of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the Lord, the God of their fathers.” –2 Chronicles 13:14-16, 18, ESV
Men in the family of God battled each other. The people of God, the people Israel, were split because of the sins of their fathers. Israel came against Judah and far out-manned the smaller Judah. But the secret to Judah’s success is the key to yours: raise a battle shout to the Lord. Rely on Him, and He will deliver you.
As I write, I am humbled by a bad habit that needs to change. The one who writes words can sometimes speak too many words, and that happened today…again. If I hope to conquer this habit, this chosen sin, I must raise a battle cry and rely on the only One Who’s purposes are greater than anything I might gain in spoken word.
Where do you need to raise a battle cry?
