Chronological Bible: June 11, (Not) Alone in a crowd…
- 2 Kings 15:8-16:4
King after king did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord. Generation after generation of the people did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord. A failure in leadership. A failure of the people to follow God instead of the leaders.
And it makes me wonder about the people who may have been following God. In millions of people, they could not all have been disobedient to God. We know that prophets raise up and call for repentance during this time; they call for the leaders and the people to turn back to God. Amid the debauchery, the idolatry, and the pride, a remnant stood faithful to the one true God. In looking at our world today, do you sometimes feel like the remnant? Do you look at social media, the news, or even broadcast television and wonder if anyone has stayed out of the hand basket heading somewhere not good? Do what the remnant in Israel did. Endure the seeming chaos. Pray for your leaders. Support the prophets who raise up speaking the word of the Lord to the lost generations. Keep pressing forward. You are not alone.
