Chronological Bible: June 12, Building foundations for the good news…
- 2 Kings 16:5-9
- Isaiah 7:1-10:4
- Isaiah 17:1-14
“Be careful, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint…If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.” –Isaiah 7:4a & 9b, ESV
Our Lord knows our tendency to forget His faithfulness. He knows we lose sight of His almightiness and His compassion. We forget His judgments are pure and holy. He delights in us, so He reminds us to be courageous. The Lord shares His heart with His people, reminding us that without faith there can be no surety.
He reminds us just before He shares the Messiah. In this reading of sections of Isaiah, the Messiah is prophesied. The salvation of Israel (and the rest of us), the final judge, the hope of His people, and God did the necessary so we would believe. He reminded us that faith undergirds receiving such a marvelous message. What could be more amazing than hearing of the Messiah?!?
Remember your faith. Remember His faithfulness. And when He gives you good news, stand firm on His truth.
