- Isaiah 28:1-29:24
- 2 Kings 17:5-41
“Therefore thus says the Lord God, ‘Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion, a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation: ‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’ And I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plumb line; and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and waters will overwhelm the shelter.'” –Isaiah 28:16-18, ESV
Jesus is not just a stone, but a tested stone. Faith in Him has endured every test. He does not ask for our faith lightly; God knew we would question, knew we would doubt. His Son came, not only to bridge the gap between our sinful selves and His holiness, but to show us that a life of faith is worth the battle. Jesus struggled, but did not sin. He endured obscurity, doubt, and being a target for those who thought they knew better than Him. He lived with purpose, and He fulfilled that purpose by trusting the Father.
This faith has been tested. It is not blind, nor is it deaf and mute. It is a rip-roaring adventure open to all who would dare to believe the God of the universe desires to be with them. Re-read the promise set forth in Isaiah. Those promises were made for you. Believe the promise and act on it. You will not regret it.
