- Proverbs 25:1-29:27
“A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” –Proverbs 25:28, ESV
That area in your life that you let run wild? That thing you think, “well, maybe tomorrow I will work on that”? That area where you plug your ears and go “la-la-la-la-la” to ignore? It will be your downfall. It will need attention; and if you do not instill discipline in that area, someone else will. It may be the jelly bean on the coffee table (ahem) or something more dangerous; whatever it is, it will come back to bite you. It will not deliver the benefits you believe will come. It does not pay off in the long run. A bit of regiment is good for you and me. Discipline creates boundaries that provide safety and security. Whether it is clearing out the clutter so your mind doesn’t have to think about it, or quitting that awful habit you know your doctor will suggest at your next visit, do it. Do it now of your own will before it is forced upon you by another.
