- Zephaniah 1:1-3:20
“Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, who do his just commands; seek righteousness; seek humility…” –Zephaniah 2:3, ESV
Buried in line upon line of prophetic destruction and wrath is this line, a half-sentence calling forth amid despair. Where sin and disobedience reigned, those who would follow God still had a calling. Where idols and blasphemy ruled the day, those that would seek out God still had work to do.
No matter where you are, no matter the society around you, God still calls from you the same thing he would if you were three people in on a front row pew on Sunday morning: seek the Lord, humble yourself, seek righteousness, seek humility. Are you doing that? Amid the chaos and ungodly, you are called to faithfulness. Surrounded by desolation and moral depravity, keep straight your vision. His call on your has not changed and neither has He.
