- Jeremiah 8:4-10:16
“…from the least to the greatest everyone is greedy for unjust gain; from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely. They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.” –Jeremiah 8:10-11, ESV
Jesus isn’t interested in slapping a band-aid on your gaping wound, patting your head, and telling you to buck up. God shares harsh words of condemnation for those that would “heal lightly”, wanting to move on to another and another. Motivated by greed, little attention was being spent to those wounds in serious need of attention. God doesn’t want you in chronic condition. He wants your full healing. It may not be physical, or emotional, or mental; but it might be all of those things. His healing goes deep. And depth can take time. Depth may even cause more pain before the healing happens. Think of it like surgery: if your appendix needs to be removed, the surgeon first needs to cut into you, causing more damage, before the healing removal of the inflamed organ can happen.
If what you want is a quick fix, you’re barking up the wrong tree with Jesus. If you want full healing, go to Him. That is His gig.
