Chronological Bible: September 18, The question we make too hard…
- Malachi 1:1-4:6
“Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. Bring the full tithe into the storehouse…” –Malachi 3:8-10, ESV
Are you tithing? Read these chapters in Malachi again. Are you tithing money? I ask the question plainly because so many have creative responses to the question. Are you tithing? If not, why not?
If you are tithing, reflect on how that has changed your relationship with God. Remember the ways when you thought it would be too much or make the budget too thin, yet somehow it all still worked. Read the rest of Malachi chapter 3, verses 10-12 and remember all the ways He has brought this blessing in your life.
If you do not tithe, it is important that you go to Him. Work it out with Him. Seek Him first. And when He calls you to tithe, do it. Obedience trumps material goods every single time.
