Chronological Bible: September 24, Hurtling in faith…
- Psalm 1
- Psalm 91
“Because he holds fast to Me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows My name.” –Psalm 91:14, ESV
“Whurs Aunt Jenn?” My littlest niece at 2.5 years of age loves me. She knows my name, remembers our games when I visit, and apparently asks about me when I am not there. She is a complete ball of energy where if you hear her yell “cannonball!” you better turn, because she is hurtling herself across the room or off the stairs in the complete and utter faith that you will catch her. And of course I catch her. Not only for her own protection, Lord help us the day someone new doesn’t realize the small one will actually jump off the stairs at you, but also because it brings us both laughter. She thinks it’s fun, and of course I want to be part of that.
God loves us so much more than I could ever love my niece. And just as He declares to the psalmist, He wants us to know His name. He wants us to hold fast to Him in love, that we, too, would, without a single thought, hurtle ourselves off the stairs in the complete, unfaltering faith that He will catch us in laughter and fun.
