“‘It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe.’ (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray Him.)…After this many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him.” –John 6:63-64, 66, ESV

Imagine being Jesus. Walking through a three-plus year of ministry. Teaching in synagogues, on hillsides, and from boats. Thousands upon thousands come to Him for help. Hundreds follow Him wherever He goes. Hundreds of people committing their lives as disciples without fully believing He is Who He says. They wander about, they follow Him from city to city, and yet, when the teaching got hard, they walked away.

The twelve, the twelve that Jesus chose, stayed. They saw Him for Who He really is and stayed regardless of how hard the teaching was. I cannot guess your state of heart, but you can. Do you really believe Him? Or will you walk away when the teaching gets too hard?
