- Isaiah 64:1-66:24
“For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make shall remain before me, says the Lord, so shall your offspring and your name remain. From new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before me, declares the Lord.” –Isaiah 66:22-23, ESV
There is a line in a song that keeps coming to mind when I read these highlighted verses: “Stop fighting a fight that’s already been won.”* The Lord will be worshiped. He will receive the glory He is due from the people He created. Every knee will bow to Him. This is the eventuality of all humans. Are you fighting it? The song lyrics in the song’s context mean to stop trying to earn our way to heaven. But the words themselves also paint a picture that Paul also painted,
“So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.” –1 Corinthians 9:26, ESV
Whatever God is calling you to, stop fighting it. His will prevails. Even Paul who wrote such a purposed statement to the Corinthians had previously been fighting a losing battle against the Lord. But the Lord brought him out of that life. You have given Him your life; stop fighting Him every step of the way! His redemptive work was completed on the cross. His purpose for your life is still playing out on this grand stage of your mortal life. Allow Him to work. Save your fighting energy for battle He deems worth the exertion.
