“‘Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?’” –Matthew 20:15, ESV
Though a parable, this teaching of Jesus highlights a fairly ugly side of the human condition. We believe we know what is right. We think we know what we would do in a situation, convinced that way is the right way and cannot understand why someone would choose a different approach.
Spiritually, we think we know the right way for our lives to go. We plot a path and expect Jesus to fall in line. But the parable line above highlights an important lesson. As believers, we belong to Jesus. We are His. We trusted Him with our lives, yet we want to dictate to Him what He should do with them. Do we begrudge Him His rights as owner? Do we dig in our heels and demand different than what He provides?
You trusted Him with your life in faith. Continue to trust Him as He creates the life more abundant than you could ever hope or dream.
