- 1 Timothy 1:1-6:21
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” –1 Timothy 2:1-2, ESV
Please. I beg you. Paul begs you. Stop disrespecting elected officials. You don’t have to agree with them. You don’t have to like them. But how can a city, county, state, or nation endure if the people who are supposed to be fighting for righteousness publicly lambaste leaders? Remember, God appoints them. God appointed you as well. And your appointment includes praying for a showing respect to your leaders. Please. Let’s be light in this world. Let’s show the difference that a respectful disagreement can make. Let’s show the difference that the peace of Jesus living out in the lives of His people can make in what can only be called horrendously contentious political realm. Be lights. Show respect.
