- Acts 25:1-26:32
“And Agrippa said to Paul, ‘In a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?’ And Paul said, ‘Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am—except for these chains.'” –Acts 26:28-29, ESV
Paul’s imprisonment allowed him audience with the king, multiple rulers, in fact. In those times, crowds would gather to hear the proceedings. Paul’s audience grew. his focus never wavered. Despite the cold steel of chains on his hands and feet, he prioritized the gospel above his imprisoned situation. No matter the length of time, he would preach the gospel, never minding his chains. In this case, he even made a joke of them.
Paul’s focus on expanding the kingdom of God never wavered. He used whatever situation he found to share the freedom he found. May we do the same.
