“After we were brought safely through, we then learned that the island was called Malta. The native people showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold.” –Acts 28:1-2, ESV
The people of the island onto which the ship wrecked showed kindness to strangers. They knew the cold and saw the wreck, so they kindled a fire. The welcome probably included some food, which the sailors had been deprived of while fighting the storm. These natives could have attacked. Instead, they rolled out the hospitality blanket to men whom they did not know. As a result, they received the gospel of their salvation.
A small kindness to strangers paved the way for their lives to change completely. Imagine what God might bring into your life as you show kindness to strangers.
